I have met so many people who struggle with food and have even labeled themselves food addicts sugar addicts or what ever term that makes them feel like they are confronting their Goliath. You see we have been told that denial is the cause of failure and today everyone knows this. This is why we tend to acknowledge our weaknesses under the premise of not being in denial. This way we make ourselves feel better and somehow justified to do what we do.

This goes for over eating as well, people say they know they have a problem and can even spell it for you down to its last letter. The sad thing is, they are doing nothing about it. Acknowledging your food cravings will not enable you to curb the cravings. Once you realize that you have a problem you need to take some action.

Imagine yourself trying to get to the mall or somewhere for a vacation, say you know how to drive but you are not getting into the car and driving to your desired destination. You just stand there and keep talking about you dream vacation. You even go as far as saying \"I know my problem is that I\'m still here and I should be getting to this car and driving so I could get to where I want to go\". Notice how silly this statement is? This is exactly how you are reacting when it come to curbing your food cravings. You are just talking and not taking action.

Acknowledging your food addiction alone will not help you curb the cravings. You need to do something more. Let me say it again, as long as you do not have the tools to help you curb your food cravings you will never succeed. The tools need not be any thing complicated and they shouldn\'t cost you any money either. I am talking about acquiring knowledge in order to understand your body and then taking the necessary taking action. Forget will power for a moment - it should be enough to only get you up on your feet but not enough to take you through the whole journey towards conquering your food addiction.

You need to first understand how your body functions in order to come up with natural ways to curb food ravings. For starters your body is designed such that it gives signals on what it lacks and on what it has been overstaffed with. This is usually when you feel hungry or crave a specific thing or feel full. You need not be a scientist and learn every thing about your body. As a driver you don\'t need to be a mechanic to know what petrol is for or what would happen if you do not put water or oil into your car. Same way with your body, you must learn the basics about what induces food cravings.

If you tell me to drink lots of water and not knowing what it does to my body, there is no way I\'m going to drink it religiously. If you tell me to just stop eating chocolate there is no way I won\'t fall back to it if I do not know what effects it has on my body.

So in conclusion, the reason why you are struggling with your food cravings, is lack of knowledge and action. We were told that denial is the source of failure but someone forgot to tell us that a problem identified is not a problem solved.
