Adwords Marketing Strategy - Have You Got One?
When you set up your adwords marketing campaigns, are you just hoping for the best that at least one of them will turn out OK? If so, youre not alone thats what most people do. And they wonder how other people make profits!
The people who really make profits are those who work out a proper adwords marketing strategy -- and stick to it. As the saying goes, those who fail to plan, plan to fail. There are too many things that can go wrong to just leave it to chance.
There is more than one kind of adwords marketing strategy. But one very successful one involves choice of keywords. There are two main ways you can go about it.
- One aspect of this adwords marketing strategy is to bid only on the product name in square brackets and on no other keyword. For instance if you were promoting a Clickbank book called Perfect Dog Training, you would bid only on the keyword [perfect dog training] and no other (apart from misspellings and variations like [perfect dog training manual]). This flies in the face of the advice you often get, that you must have several hundred keywords to succeed. But succeed it does. The reason is that people searching on the actual title have obviously heard about this product and are interested in buying it. The keywords wont get a large number of clicks, but the people who do click are highly likely to buy. So you can scarcely fail to make a profit.
- The other aspect of this particular adwords marketing strategy is to bid on product genre keywords. People searching on these usually want a product of this nature and are likely to buy -- they just dont know exactly which product they want. That is, they are not looking for information, they actually are looking for the product. So they might type in gardening manual, dog training manual, satellite dish. The bid price on these will often be the same as that on much more general keywords like gardening. This means you can get good results and pay less per click. So how can you go about it?
- Go to Clickbank or one of the other affiliate networks and choose a product in the normal way (preferably one with a good sales page and a good commission.)
- Enter the URL of the product into Googles site-targeted keyword tool. You will see a list of keywords that relate to the content of the web page.
- Select all the keywords that relate to a product genre. For instance, suppose you are promoting a book called The Perfect Garden Guide. The keywords might include garden guide, garden manual, gardening guide, gardening manual, plus the plurals of all these. These are very targeted keywords.
- Promote your product in adwords with these keywords. (But dont forget to track them and disable any that arent performing well.)
Using keywords in this way is a highly effective adwords marketing strategy that virtually guarantees success. One of the main reasons if not THE main reason for failure is getting costly clicks that dont result in sales. This strategy practically eliminates untargeted clicks. But whichever strategy you use, you must have an adwords marketing strategy or you have very little chance of success.
